Pathways

Choosing the Right Pathway

There is no single academic route that suits every student. At iCollege Academy, we offer recognised qualification pathways and guide families in choosing the route that best fits a student's strengths, goals, and future plans.

The aim is to design a coherent academic journey that supports both strong results and long-term development.

Pathway decisions are made together — with the student, the family, and the Academy team.

We consider

  • The student's academic strengths and current level
  • Their intended university destinations and course preferences
  • Whether they suit high-stakes exams or continuous assessment
  • Long-term goals and personal interests

Academic routes

UK & US Pathways

Both pathways are internationally recognised and supported through personalised academic guidance.

UK Pathway

GCSEs & A Levels

The UK pathway provides a structured and academically rigorous route. Students focus on a small number of subjects, allowing for depth, confidence, and strong preparation for university entry.

Programme includes

  • International GCSEs
  • International A Levels (subject availability depends on cohort needs)
  • Small-group teaching and individual academic support
  • Calm, structured exam preparation

UK and international universities widely recognise this pathway.

US Pathway

US High School Diploma

The US pathway offers a flexible academic structure based on credit-based progression and continuous assessment. Students complete coursework across a range of subjects while building credits toward the diploma.

Programme includes

  • Accredited US High School Diploma
  • Credit-based progression
  • Ongoing assessment and feedback
  • Recognition by US and international universities

Often suits students who prefer flexibility and continuous evaluation rather than high-stakes final exams.

Qualifications

Recognised Qualification Providers

iCollege Academy works with internationally recognised qualification providers to ensure students follow credible and widely accepted academic pathways.

UK Pathway

Pearson Edexcel

A globally recognised UK awarding body offering GCSE and A Level qualifications accepted by universities worldwide.

UK Pathway

Cambridge International

Part of the University of Cambridge, providing internationally respected qualifications including Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International A Levels.

US Pathway

University of Nebraska High School

An accredited American high school diploma programme operated by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The diploma is recognised by universities in the United States and internationally.

Students are guided in selecting subjects and pathways aligned with their intended university destinations — whether in the UK, the US, Europe, or elsewhere internationally.

Flexible learning

Flexible Academic Arrangements

Some students benefit from blended or transitional academic plans, particularly when moving between education systems or re-engaging with study.

Where appropriate, we work with families to design academic arrangements that remain rigorous while supporting the student's overall development.

These plans are discussed individually and implemented with care. Flexibility does not mean reduced expectations.

This may suit students who are

  • Students moving between education systems
  • Re-engaging with formal study after a break
  • Requiring a transitional academic plan before a full pathway
  • Needing a blended approach to qualification delivery

Learning

How Students Learn

Learning combines in-person teaching with structured online support where appropriate. Students benefit from a range of approaches designed to build independence and academic confidence.

01

Small-group teaching

Discussion-led classes and strong teacher relationships. Every student is known and can contribute meaningfully.

02

Guided independent study

Students develop focus, academic responsibility, and resilience — essential skills for university and beyond.

03

Specialist teaching

Access to teachers locally and internationally where needed, ensuring the right expertise for every subject.

04

Structured online learning

Online learning is always structured and integrated into the wider academic programme — never isolated or unsupported.

Academic progress

Assessment & Progress

Students gradually take increasing responsibility for their own learning and progress. This is part of how the Academy develops independence and academic maturity alongside qualifications.

Families are kept informed throughout the year through regular reporting and direct communication with the Academy team.

Progress is measured honestly — against each student's individual starting point, not a one-size-fits-all standard.

Progress is monitored through

  • Regular formative assessments
  • Termly summative assessment
  • Ongoing teacher feedback
  • Individual learning plans
  • Clear reporting to families
